NATIONAL
TRUST
Since November
2007, your State or Territory National Trust has been working
on an ongoing basis to identify the heritage places (or
sometimes processes) most at risk.
Each Year on World
Heritage Day, 18 April, nominations close. After assessment a
Most at Risk list is selected and announced on 1 July. The
Our Heritage at Risk program is part
of the onging commitment by the National Trust movement to
promote informed debate on heritage issues. By bringing attention
to Our Heritage at
Risk, the National Trust is seeking to promote
a discussion between owners, governments and the community
to find innovative, equitable and sustainable solutions
to reduce or remove the risks to these heritage
places.
Over the last
few months, State and Territory nominations were reviewed to
develop an Australia wide Heritage At
Risk - National Top 10.
The inaugural list was first announced
in Hobart. Tasmania on 3 November
2007.
The 2008
list was announced on 18 October 2008 at Currumbin Sactuary,
Queensland.
