OUR HERITAGE AT RISK - TASMANIA - 2007

Place:   “Summershall”  Westwood Road – Hagley 

Threat:  Destruction and Complete Loss of Heritage Values

 

 

Significance:             

 “Summershall” is one of the few surviving timber farm houses in the Westwood region. It retains its original cedar doors, architraves and joinery. Summershall has been identified in the current heritage survey of the Meander Valley Council. A strong case can be made for it meeting  a  number of the Tasmanian Heritage Register’s criteria for inclusion in the Register.

This early 1830’s two storey timber residence is currently unoccupied. The house is currently at risk from deterioration and there is concern about the future of the house.
