Control Building
Significance:
This heritage precinct consists of a number of interwar and Second World War hangars showing an evolution of design and a Moderne style terminal building formerly used as a control tower. Hangar 1 is the only extant 1920s ‘Government Hangar’ in Australia. Hangars 4 and 5 were constructed by QANTAS.
Statement of Risk:
Degree of Risk: At Risk
Threats/Risks: Devaluation of Heritage Values

Heritage protection resides within the Archerfield Airport Master Plan which has not identified the precinct, only some of its buildings. The hangars are located along the alignment of Beatty Road, an area of prime commercial exposure.
Desired Outcome / Vision:
The heritage significance of the precinct needs to be more clearly established and its protection more clearly defined.
